BRAMPTON, Ont. - Vincent Trocheck scored four goals to lead the Plymouth Whalers to a 5-2 win over the host Brampton Battalion on Sunday afternoon in Ontario Hockey League play.

Tom Wilson had a goal and two assists for Plymouth (28-16-9) while Ryan Hartman chipped in with three assists.

Blake Clarke and Barclay Goodrow replied for Brampton (25-20-9).

Alex Nedeljkovic made 36 saves for the win while Matej Machovsky took the loss after allowing four goals on 13 shots in 29 minutes of action. Jake Smith replaced Machovsky and stopped all 10 shots he faced in relief.

Trocheck opened the scoring just 46 seconds into the game when he caught Machovsky out of position with a wide open net.

Wilson doubled the lead exactly three minutes later on the power play, converting on a perfect cross-crease pass from Garrett Meurs.

Brampton curbed the deficit to one when Clarke snapped a shot past Nedeljkovic just over a minute into the second period, but Trocheck restored the two-goal advantage with his second of the afternoon a little over four minutes later.

Trocheck picked up his third goal with a shorthanded breakaway effort, which put an end to Machovsky’s afternoon.

Goodrow scored to make it 4-2 late in the second before Trocheck rounded out the scoring with an empty-net goal in the final minute of regulation.

The Whalers went 1 for 4 on the power play while the Battalion failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.
