McIvor scores twice as the Battalion down the Wolves

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Marcus McIvor scored two goals as the Brampton Battalion downed the visiting Sudbury Wolves 4-1 on Sunday afternoon in Ontario Hockey League play.

Barclay Goodrow and Matt MacLeod also scored for the Battalion (24-18-9), who won for the fifth time in their last seven games and move within two points of Sudbury for fourth in the Western Conference.

Dominik Kubalik scored the lone goal for the Wolves (24-18-10), who lost in regulation for the first time in eight outings.

Matej Machovsky stopped 16-of-17 for the win as Franky Palazzese made 24 saves in a losing cause.

McIvor opened the scoring at 13:44 of the first period to make it 1-0 Battalion after 20 minutes of play.

After a scoreless second period, Goodrow scored on the power play 25 seconds into the third period to double Brampton's lead.

McIvor and MacLeod made it 4-0 before Kubalik ended Machovsky's shut-out bid with 7:58 remaining in regulation time.

Brampton went 1 for 5 on the power play while Sudbury failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.
