Blake Clarke, Brampton Battalion fend off Mississauga Steelheads 4-3

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Blake Clarke scored a goal and added an assist as the Brampton Battalion held off the Mississauga Steelheads 4-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.

Barclay Goodrow and Nick Paul had the other goals for Brampton (23-18-8).

Stuart Percy, Riley Brace and Trevor Carrick replied for Mississauga (22-22-4).

The Battalion led 3-0 after one period. After Paul opened the scoring 3:30 into the game, Goodrow and Clarke added power-play goals 39 seconds apart.

Percy curbed the deficit to two with less than six minutes to play in the second period before Clarke restored the three-goal cushion 1:24 after Percy's goal. Brace made it a two-goal game again shortly after Clarke scored.

The 4-2 score held until Carrick brought the Steelheads to within one with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.

Spencer Martin stopped 17 of 21 shots for Mississauga while Matej Machovsky was busy in the win, turning aside 35 of the 38 shots sent his way.

Mississauga went 0 for 5 on the power play while Brampton capitalized on two of five opportunities with the man advantage.
