Defenseman Alex Edler has signed a six-year contract extension with the Vancouver Canucks, the team announced Friday.
TSN reports the deal is worth $30 million.
Edler has one year remaining at $3.25 million on his current contract, according to Capgeek.com. He would have become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
The 26-year-old has played in 386 games for the Canucks, with 43 goals and 141 assists. Last season he scored a career-high 49 points (11 goals), playing 82 games for the first time.
He made his NHL debut in 2006-07.
