Josh Currie scored twice and Antoine Bibeau made 37 saves Thursday as the P.E.I. Rocket defeated the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 5-2 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Alexis Pepin, Ben Duffy and Anthony Cortese had the other goals for P.E.I. (24-15-2), while Deverick Ottereyes and Tomas Pavelka each picked up two assists.
Cedric Paquette and Yasin Cisse scored for Blainville-Boisbriand (24-12-5). Etienne Marcoux gave up four goals on 13 shots before being replaced by Guillaume Decelles, who made eight saves the rest of the way.
In the only other game in the QMJHL, Chicoutimi defeated Quebec 4-1.
At Charlottetown, Currie opened the scoring with a short-handed effort at 12:56 of the first before adding his second just before time expired in the period.
Pepin made it 3-0 for the Rocket at 2:53 of the second and Duffy ended Marcoux's night with P.E.I.'s fourth at 11:05.
The change to Decelles in goal seemed to spark the Armada as Paquette got Blainville-Boisbriand on the board just 1:46 later.
But Cortese restored the Rocket's four-goal edge just 1:37 into the third, before Cisse got another back for the Armada to round out the scoring at 13:22.
A failure to score on the power play was Blainville-Broisbriand's downfall as the Armada finished just 0-for-6 with the man advantage.
P.E.I., meanwhile, was scoreless on its only attempt.
Sagueneens 4, Remparts 1
At Chicoutimi, Que., Sebastien Sylvestre had a goal and an assist as the Sagueneens (21-18-4) topped Quebec (25-13-3).
