Petryk scores twice, including winner, as the Silvertips down the Chiefs

EVERETT, Wash. - Reid Petryk scored twice, including the winner on a penalty shot at 17:16 of the third period, as the Everett Silvertips edged the visiting Spokane Chiefs 3-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Petryk earned the penalty shot after being tripped up from behind by Spokane defenseman Reid Gow while on a breakaway.

Joshua Winquist also scored for the Silvertips (16-23-2) while Austin Lotz made 33 saves for the victory.

Blake Gal and Mike Aviani scored for the Chiefs (24-13-1), who are winless in three games, and Garret Hughson turned aside 23 shots in defeat.

Everett failed to score on two chances with the man advantage while Spokane went 1 for 4 on the power play.
