Blake Clarke scored twice, including the eventual winner, as the Brampton Battalion edged the host Sarnia Sting 3-2 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Both of Clarke's goals came late in the second period and his second at 18:32 gave Brampton a 3-1 lead heading into the final period.

The 16-year-old winger has picked up five points in his last four outings and now sits second in rookie scoring behind Erie Otters' forward Connor McDavid with nine goals and 30 points in 37 games. McDavid has 18 goals and 40 points in 35 games.

Mike Amadio also scored for the Battalion (18-14-5), who have won back-to-back outings, while Nicholas Foglia picked up two assists.

Charles Sarault and Reid Boucher each had a goal and an assist for the Sting (20-12-3), who lost in regulation time for the first time in 10 games.

Boucher has now scored in four straight outings and has five goals and eight points in the process.

Jake Smith made 24 saves for his fourth win of the season as JP Anderson stopped 32 shots in a losing cause.

Brampton went 0 for 2 on the power play while Sarnia went 0 for 1.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Peterborough 5, Kingston 2; Belleville 6, Guelph 3; Barrie 4, Kitchener 1; Oshawa 4, Mississauga 3; Owen Sound 6, Erie 1 and Niagara 4, Sudbury 3 (OT).

At Brampton, Ont., Sarault opened the scoring just 18 seconds into the first period. However, Amadia scored at 14:50 to make it 1-1 after 20 minutes of play.

Clarke scored his first of the game at 16:05 of the second period and added another just over two minutes later to give Brampton a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Boucher brought Sarnia within one goal when he scored at 10:50 of the third period.

At Kingston, Ont., Francis Menard, Steven Trojanovic and Slater Koekkoek all scored on the power play as Peterborough (9-23-4) ended a three-game slide by defeating the Frontenacs (17-16-2).

At Guelph, Ont., Austen Brassard and Brendan Gaunce each had a goal and two assists as Belleville (19-11-4) doubled up the Storm (20-10-4), who are winless in three games.

At Kitchener, Ont., Mathias Niederberger stopped 37-of-38 shots and Steven Beyers had a goal and an assist as Barrie (24-9-1) beat the Rangers (19-11-5), who are winless in three games.

At Mississauga, Ont., Scott Laughton scored a goal and added two assists and Daniel Altshuller made 31 saves as Oshawa (21-12-3) edged the Steelheads (18-13-3) for its fourth straight victory.

At Owen Sound, Ont., Holden Cook scored twice and Kurtis Gabriel had a goal and two assists as the Attack (24-8-3) halted Erie's (11-20-5) three-game win streak.

At Sudbury, Ont., Steven Shipley scored the winner 3:44 into overtime and Jesse Graham had a goal and two assists as Niagara (21-13-2) downed the Wolves (14-16-7), who picked up at least one point in their sixth straight outing.
