SPOKANE, Wash. - Adam De Champlain scored the winner midway through the third period Tuesday as the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Spokane Chiefs 4-3 in the Western Hockey League.
Nicolas Petan added two goals of his own for the Winterhawks (29-5-1), while Taylor Peters chipped in with a goal and an assist.
Mac Carruth made 37 saves for Portland, which also got two assists from Troy Rutkowski and Kirill Vorobev.
Blake Gal and Todd Fiddler each had a goal and an assist for Spokane (23-10-1), while Mitch Homberg also scored.
Eric Williams stopped 22 shots in taking the loss.
