David Broll scores winner to lead Greyhounds over Whalers 4-3 in OT

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - David Broll scored at 1:56 of overtime Wednesday as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds rallied to beat the Plymouth Whalers 4-3 in the Ontario Hockey League.

Sergey Tolchinsky, with a goal and an assist, Darnell Nurse and Colin Miller also scored for the Greyhounds (15-16-2), who got two assists each from Chris Buonomo and Nick Cousins.

Matt Murray stopped 22 shots to get the win.

Matthew Mistele scored a pair of goals while for the Whalers (14-9-8), while Garrett Meurs had the other.

Matt Mahalak made 28 saves in taking the loss as the Whalers dropped their fifth straight. Four of those defeats have come in overtime or a shootout.

Sault Ste. Marie trailed 3-1 in the third period before Tolchinski cut the deficit to one at 8:52. Nurse then tied the score with 33 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

The Greyhounds went 0-for-8 on the power play, while Plymouth went 1-for-6.
