QMJHL Roundup: A look at Sunday's games

Jess Tanguy scored three times and set up one more as the Rimouski Oceanic downed the visiting P.E.I. Rocket 6-1 on Sunday afternoon in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

It was the first-career QMJHL hat trick for the 20-year-old centre and he now has nine goals and 26 points in 22 games.

Frederik Gauthier scored once and added three assists for the Oceanic (19-10-4), who have won seven of their last 10 outings, while Francis Beauvillier and Peter Trainor had a goal and two assists apiece.

The four-point performance for Gauthier extended his point streak to five games while Trainor has three goals and 11 points in his last six contests.

Jack Nevins scored the lone goal for the Rocket (17-12-2), who have dropped back-to-back games.

Philippe Desrosiers stopped 24 shots for his 11th win of the season as Maxime Lagace turned away 23-of-29 shots in a losing cause.

Rimouski went 2 for 6 on the power play while P.E.I. failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Halifax 4, Saint John 2; Blainville-Boisbriand 8, Val-d'Or 1; Cape Breton 3, Chicoutimi 0 and Rouyn-Noranda 5, Gatineau 3.

At Rimouski, Que., Trainor opened the scoring 3:20 into the first period and Tanguy scored at 17:20 to give the Oceanic a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Tanguy made it 3-0 on the power play early in the second period before Nevins put the Rocket on the board at 12:20.

Beauvillier scored Rimouski's second power-play goal of the day 7:01 into the third period to make it 4-1 and Tanguy and Gauthier added late goals to round out the scoring for the Oceanic.

At Boisbriand, Que., eight members of the Armada (22-6-4) recorded a multi-point game including Marc-Olivier Roy, who scored three times, as Blainville-Boisbriand crushed Val-d'Or (15-15-2) to end its three-game slump.

At Saguenay, Que., David Honzik stopped all 31 shots he faced and Alexandre Lavoie had a goal and an assist as Cape Breton (8-19-6) snapped a nine-game winless streak by blanking Chicoutimi (15-15-3).

At Gatineau, Que., Gabriel Desjardins scored twice and Mathieu Brisebois had a goal and three assists as Rouyn-Noranda (20-10-1) downed the Olympiques (12-18-1) for the second time this season.
