Cornel scores winner as the Petes edge the Wolves

SUDBURY, Ont. - Eric Cornel scored the winning goal in the eighth round of the shootout as the Peterborough Petes edged the host Sudbury Wolves 5-4 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Brett Findlay scored twice in regulation for the Petes (8-20-4) while Alan Quine and Jonatan Tanus each scored once.

Nicholas Baptiste, Danny Desrochers, Dominik Kubalik had a goal and an assist each for the Wolves (12-16-5) as Franky Corrado added a single goal.

Andrew D'Agostini picked up the win after stopping 19-of-20 shots in 42 minutes of action. D'Agostini replaced starter Michael Giugovaz, who allowed three goals on 17 shots and left the game early in the second period.

Joel Vienneau stopped 32 shots in a losing cause.

Peterborough failed to score on either of its power-play opportunities while Sudbury went 2 for 3.
