Patrik Zdrahal scored three times, including the winner in overtime, as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan held on to beat the visiting Halifax Mooseheads 7-6 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
Acadie-Bathurst jumped out to a 5-1 lead before giving up five unanswered goals to Halifax. The Mooseheads were 16 seconds away from a come-from-behind victory before Zdrahal scored on the power play to force extra time.
It was the 17-year-old rookie's first career hat trick and he also added an assist for a four-point evening.
O'Brien now leads his club in scoring with 20 goals and 43 points in 31 games.
Adam Stevens added a goal and an assist to round out Acadie-Bathurst's offence.
Jonathan Drouin led the Mooseheads (24-3-2) offensively with three goals and an assist while linemate Nathan MacKinnon picked up four assists.
While it was the first time Drouin had scored in seven outings, he extended his point streak to four games and now has 18 goals and 47 points in 23 games.
MacKinnon pushed his point streak to five games and now has 22 goals and 52 points in 29 contests, which ties him for the QMJHL scoring lead with Josh Currie of the P.E.I. Rocket.
Titan goaltender Jacob Brennan made 46 saves for his 10th win of the season as Zachary Fucale allowed five goals on 12 shots before getting pulled midway through the second period. Chris Clarke stopped 12-of-14 shots in 33 minutes of relief for the Mooseheads, however he picked up the loss.
Acadie-Bathurst went 1 for 5 on the power play while Halifax scored twice on seven chances with the man advantage.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Baie-Comeau 4, Cape Breton 0; Shawinigan 3, Sherbrooke 2 (SO); Victoriaville 4, P.E.I. 1 and Quebec 4, Saint John 2.
At Bathurst, N.B., Hynes opened the scoring 7:09 into the game and O'Brien made it 2-0 for the Titan in the final minute of the first period.
Stevens made it 3-0 2:56 into the second period, but Drouin finally got Halifax on the board just 56 seconds later.
Hynes and Zdrahal scored back-to-back to make it 5-1 Acadie-Bathurst, ending the night for Fucale.
Weegar scored a late goal in the second period to make it 5-2 and spark a Halifax comeback.
Drouin opened the third period with a short-handed goal at 6:41 and Boudreau and Fournier added power-play goals less than two minutes apart to tie the game 5-5 with 3:35 to play in the third period.
Drouin put the Mooseheads ahead 6-5 at 17:19 before Zdrahal redeemed two points for Acadie-Bathurst with the tying and winning goals.

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Simon Lemieux stopped all 27 shots he faced and Petr Straka had a goal and an assist as the Drakkar (19-10-3) blanked Cape Breton (7-19-6), which is winless in nine straight games.

At Sherbrooke, Que., Samuel Aquin scored the shootout winner and Marvin Cupper turned aside 27-of-29 shots as Shawinigan (6-21-3) edged the Phoenix (7-20-4) for the second time in as many days.

At Victoriaville, Que., Philippe Halley scored twice and Phillip Danault set up all four of his club's goals as the Tigres (13-13-5) downed P.E.I. (17-11-2) for their third road win of the season.

At Saint John, N.B., Mikhail Grigorenko scored twice and now has the league lead in goals with 29 while Adamerne had a goal and two assists as Quebec (22-8-1) doubled up the Sea Dogs (14-15-0), who have dropped three games in a row.
