Chase scores twice as the Hitmen down the Ice

CALGARY - Greg Chase scored twice to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 4-1 win over the Kootenay Ice in Western Hockey League action on Sunday.

Alex Roach had a goal and an assist for the Hitmen (18-6-3), while Pavlo Padakin also scored. Brooks Macek and Brady Brassart had two assists each.

Brock Montgomery scored the lone goal of the game for the Ice (8-17-1), who have lost two straight games and five of their past seven.

Chris Driedger made 18 saves to record his 15th win of the season as Mackenzie Skapski stopped 25-of-29 shots in a losing cause.

The Hitmen went 2 for 3 on the power play while the Ice scored once on eight chances with the man advantage.

Padakin’s goal at 13:27 of the first period prompted the 16,912 fans in attendance at the Scotiabank Saddledome to litter the ice with 21,453 stuffed toys as part of the 18th annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss.

Roach followed up Padakin’s first-period goal by scoring two minutes into the second to give the Hitmen a 2-0 lead.

Montgomery scored at 15:26 of the second for Kootenay before Chase recorded a pair of power-play goals for the Hitmen in the third.
