PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The Oshawa Generals jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on to beat the Peterborough Petes 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League play Tuesday night.
The Generals (15-10-3) came out of the gate fast, with Tyler Biggs scoring at the 1:20 mark. It was his 14th goal of the season. Cole Cassels made it 2-0 3:16 into the game.
Boone Jenner extended the lead with his league-leading 25th goal of the season at 6:16 of the second.
The Petes (5-10-3) seemed to get a bit of a spark after Josh Maguire fought Oshawa's John Urbanic a bit past the midway mark of the period, and got their first goal when Alan Quine ripped home a one-timer on the power play at 15:54.
Peterborough outshot the Generals 13-8 in the third period and scored the only goal of the third when Slater Koekkoek converted Quine's pass from the corner at 16:34.
Both Peterborough goals came on the power play.
Daniel Altshuller earned the win, making 32 saves.
Andrew D'Agostini stopped 27 shots in a losing effort for the Petes.
