GLEN FALLS, N.Y. - Eddie Pasquale made 31 saves as the St. John's IceCaps bested the Adirondack Phantoms 3-2 Wednesday night in American Hockey League action.

Pasquale stopped 13 shots in the third period and picked up his fifth win of the season and third in his last five starts.

Kevin Clark scored his first goal of the season for St. John's (10-9-1), while Paul Postma and Carl Klingberg had goals as well. The IceCaps moved into a tie for first place in the Atlantic Division with the idle Manchester Monarchs.

Rob Bordson and Harry Zolnierczyk replied for Adirondack (9-9-0), while Scott Munroe stopped 23 shots in net.

St. John's scored twice more on seven power plays, including a pair of power-play goals 10 seconds apart in the third period. Postma's goal at 10:18 of the third was followed by Klingberg's eventual winner at 10:28.

After a scoreless first period, the teams traded goals in the second, with the Phantoms striking first.

Jamie Akeson took a slapshot that hit Zolnierczyk and went off Pasquale's pad and in, giving the home side a 1-0 lead at 13:15 of the second.

St. John's tied it just minutes later on Clark's first of the season.

Alex Burmistrov burst into the Phantoms zone and was denied on a nice save by Munroe, but Clark was there to deposit the rebound and knot the game at one heading into the third period.

The IceCaps forged ahead on a two-man advantage midway through the third period after Adirondack was whistled for a pair of minor penalties. Burmistrov teed up the puck for Postma back at the point and the reigning St. John's MVP blasted a one-timer through traffic and past Munroe to give the IceCaps a 2-1 lead.

Just 10 seconds later on a 5-on-4 advantage, Machacek sped down the right side and swung a pass in front to a streaking Klingberg, who redirected the puck into the net for a two-goal IceCaps' lead.

Adirondack closed the gap to one with 4:33 to go in regulation. Erik Gustafsson's wristshot from the point went along the ice and was deflected by Bordson, making it 3-2 with just minutes left to play.
