McCann two goals, Murray 51 saves as the Greyhounds edge the Wolves

SUDBURY, Ont. - Jared McCann scored twice and Matt Murray made 51 saves as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds beat the host Sudbury Wolves 5-4 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Ryan Sproul scored the eventual winner for the Greyhounds (11-12-2) while Dylan Staples and Nick Halagian had the others.

Danny Desrochers, Frank Corrado, Joshua Leivo and Nicholas Baptiste supplied the offense for the Wolves (9-14-2).

Taylor Dupuis allowed five goals on 29 shots in the loss.

Desrochers opened the scoring for the Wolves when he deflected a point shot past Murray at 9:45 in the first period.

Staples tied the game on a rebound in the slot that he buried over a sprawled Dupuis at 16:25.

McCann made it 2-1 for the Greyhounds with a wrist shot that beat Dupuis between his left pad and glove at 1:30 in the second period and then he added his second goal on the power play with a point shot at 9:43.

Halagian was credited with a goal after Chad Thibodeau tipped the puck into his own net on a cross-crease pass at 16:25 to make it 4-1 Greyhounds.

Corrado cut into the deficit on the power play with a blast from the point that beat Murray glove side at 18:00.

Leivo pulled the Wolves within one goal 51 seconds later with a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle.

Baptiste completed a three-goal comeback at 10:50 after he banged home a loose puck in the crease, but Sproul regained the Greyhounds' lead at 14:54.

Sault Ste. Marie went 1-for-2 on the power play while Sudbury went 1-for-4.
