Pavelka makes 43 saves as the Spitfires edge the Spirit 2-1

WINDSOR, Ont. - Jaroslav Pavelka stopped 43 shots as the Windsor Spitfires edged the visiting Saginaw Spirit 2-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Trevor Murphy scored the winning goal for the Spitfires (10-10-5) with less than three minutes remaining in the third period while Emerson Clark added a first-period goal.

Murphy, who was acquired from the Peterborough Petes as part of a four-player trade on Thursday, one-timed a cross-ice pass from Josh Ho-Sang while parked at the back of the right face-off circle for the game winner.

Justin Kea scored in the second period for the Spirit (10-13-3).

Jake Paterson made 36 saves in a long cause.

Windsor went 0-for-2 on the power play while Saginaw failed to score on seven chances with the man advantage.
