Malcolm Subban stops 35 shots as Bulls edge Storm 2-1 in shootout

BELLEVILLE, Ont. - Malcolm Subban made 35 saves as the Belleville Bulls recorded a 2-1 shootout win over the Guelph Storm in Ontario Hockey League action on Wednesday.

Brendan Gaunce opened the scoring for Belleville (11-6-3-0) on the power play at 15:57 of the first period.

The Vancouver Canucks' first-round selection picked up a shot off the end board and floated the puck over a sprawling Garrett Sparks. The goal came in Gaunce's first game back after missing eight with a separated shoulder.

Guelph answered back with a power play marker of their own with Andrey Pedan converting on a tic-tac-toe play to beat Subban over the glove at 10:22 of the second period.

Sparks made 40 saves for the Storm (12-8-0-2).

Both sides had ample opportunities on the power play, with the Bulls going 1-for-9, and the Storm 1-for-7.

Brock McGinn scored Guelph's only shootout goal while Joseph Cramarossa and Jordan Subban converted for Belleville.
