Austin Lotz stopped all 35 shots he faced as the Everett Silvertips blanked the host Tri-City Americans 3-0 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.
It was the first career shutout for the 17-year-old goaltender and the victory snapped a seven-game losing skid for his club.
“Through this whole stretch they have done everything we have asked them to do, except win,” Everett coach Mark Ferner said of the losses. “It has been hard on them emotionally. Hopefully we can carry this through. I am proud of their effort tonight.”
Trent Lofthouse, Kohl Bauml and Stathis Soumelidis all scored for the Silvertips (7-13-2) while Ryan Harrison and Mirco Muello had two assists apiece.
The Americans (12-7-2), who are four games into an eight-game homestand, saw their three-game win streak come to an end.
Eric Comrie had 22 saves for Tri-City, which was shut out for the second time this season.
The Silvertips failed to earn any power-play chances while the Americans went 0-for-5 with the man-advantage.

At Kennewick, Wash., Lofthouse opened the scoring at 18:20 of the first period and Everett entered the first intermission up 1-0, despite being outshot 15-6.
Bauml made it 2-0 with his eighth goal of the season just 47 seconds into the second period.
Soumelidis added another goal for the Silvertips at 11:55 of the third period while Lotz stopped all 12 shots he faced in the final 20 minutes to secure the victory.

At Prince Albert, Sask., Luke Siemens stopped all 28 shots he faced and Mike Winther and Mark McNeill both had a goal and an assist as the Raiders (13-5-2) blanked Seattle (8-10-1) for their fourth straight victory.
