OHL Roundup: Brett Ritchie fuels Niagara IceDogs in 9-4 rout of Guelph Storm

Brett Ritchie did it all for the Niagara IceDogs on Saturday.

The right-winger scored a career high six points on four goals and two assists as Niagara clobbered the Guelph Storm 9-4 in Ontario Hockey League action.

The line of Ritchie, Ryan Strome and Mitchell Theoret combined for 16 points as both Strome (one goal, four assists) and Theoret (two goals, three assists) each had five point games.

Mack Lemmon and Jesse Graham had the other IceDogs (11-6-1) goals.

Lost in the Guelph defeat was the play of Storm rookie forward Robby Fabbri, who scored his first three OHL goals for the hat trick. Scott Kosmachuck also scored for Guelph (11-5-1).

Storm goaltender, and Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick, Garret Sparks was pulled in the first period after allowing three goals on just eight shots.

Jason DaSilva allowed six goals on 33 shots the rest of the way.

Chris Festarini turned aside 31 saves to pick up the win for Niagara who went 3 for 7 on the power play. Guelph was 0 for 5.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Owen Sound 6 Erie 1; Sarnia 7 Plymouth 5; Ottawa 4 Sudbury 3 (SO); Barrie 5 Sault Ste. Marie 4 (OT) and Saginaw 3 Belleville 2.

At Erie, Pa., Owen Sound (12-2-2) scored four goals in just under three minutes early in the third period to pull away from the reeling Otters (4-10-3).

Sting 7 Whalers 5

At Plymouth, Mich., captain Alex Galchenyuk had two goals and two assists as Sarnia (9-7-1) outlasted the Whalers (8-5-3).

67's 4 Wolves 3 (SO)

At Sudbury, Ont., Tyler Fielding's slick backhand in the shootout was the clincher as Ottawa (6-8-2) slipped past the Wolves (8-8-2).

Colts 5 Greyhounds 4 (OT)

At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Winnipeg Jets prospect Mark Scheifele scored the overtime winner as Barrie (12-3-1) edged the Greyhounds (9-7-1).

Spirit 3 Bulls 2

At Saginaw, Mich., the Spirit (6-8-2) scored three unanswered goals to rally past Belleville (8-5-2).
