Friday, 11.02.2012 / 11:14 PM The Canadian Press

The focus was back on playing hockey Friday night in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Marcus Cuomo, Kevin Gagne and Jakub Izacky all scored unanswered goals for Saint John as the Sea Dogs raced out to a 6-2 win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

The Screaming Eagles had made headlines earlier Friday as the Canadian Hockey League Players' Association withdrew its application to Nova Scotia's government to unionize the Sydney-based club.

Labour Department spokesman Kevin Finch says a certification vote planned for Friday was called off when the application was withdrawn.

In the game, Saint John took a 3-1 lead after the first period on goals from Stephen MacAulay, Ryan Tesink and Michael Mastrangelo.

William Carrier replied for Cape Breton at the 15:10 mark of the first, then Alexandre Lavoie scored a power-play goal in the second to make it 3-2.
