Flyers assign Couturier, B. Schenn to AHL

The Philadelphia Flyers assigned 26 players, including Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier, to the Adirondack Phantoms of the American Hockey League, the team announced Saturday.

Couturier was the team's first-round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, had 13 goals and 27 points in 77 games as a rookie for the Flyers and was a key two-way presence during the postseason for Philadelphia. Schenn, acquired last offseason as part of a package for ex-captain Mike Richards, had 12 goals and 18 points in 54 games as a rookie before adding three goals and nine points in 11 postseason contests.

Other Flyers who saw action in the postseason that were assigned to Adirondack include defensemen Eric Wellwood and Erik Gustafsson and forward Zac Rinaldo. The other players assigned Saturday were Jason Akeson, Tyler Brown, Cullen Eddy, Matt Ford, Shane Harper, Cal Heeter, Ben Holmstrom, Tyler Hostetter, Niko Hovinen, Andrew Johnston, Blake Kessel, Matthew Konan, Oliver Lauridsen, Matt Mangene, Brandon Manning, Tye McGinn, Marcel Noebels, Luke Pither, Danny Syvret, Mike Testwuide and Harry Zolnierczyk.
