Caps ship Bourque to Bruins

The Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins swapped players Saturday, as the Caps acquired center Zach Hamill in exchange for left wing Chris Bourque.

Hamill, 23, tallied 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 41 games last season with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound center also had two assists in 16 games with Boston.

In 20 career NHL games, Hamill has four assists. He is 44-95-139 in 256 AHL contests. He was originally drafted by Boston in the first round (No. 8) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Bourque, 26, had 93 points (27 goals, 66 assists) in 73 games with the Hershey Bears in 2011-12. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
