ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - David Pacan scored 13:21 into overtime as the Niagara IceDogs edged the visiting Brampton Battalion 2-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

Niagara took a 1-0 lead late in the first period when Ryan Strome beat Matej Machovsky for his team-leading sixth goal of the playoffs.

Brampton tied the game with 2:34 to play in the second period when Marcus McIvor beat a screened Mark Visentin from the point for his second of the post-season.

IceDogs' forward Brett Ritchie was awarded a penalty shot at the 12:58 mark of overtime, after a Brampton defender covered the puck during a massive scrum in the crease, but he was unable to score.

23 seconds later Pacan beat Machovsky five-hole for the victory.

Visentin made 44 saves for the win as Machovsky turned aside 34 shots in a losing effort.

Neither club could connect with man-advantage as Niagara went 0 for 1 and the Battalion 0 for 2.

Niagara now leads the second-round series 1-0 with Game 2 scheduled for Sunday in Brampton at the Powerade Centre.
