• In 2010-11, he led all Ontario Hockey League rookies with 53 assists and was fourth with 75 points (22-53--75) in 66 games. Scheifele finished the season strong – he had 11 of his 22 goals in the last 18 games.

• Scheifele’s breakout season continued at the 2011 Under-18 World Championships. He led all Canadian forwards and was named one of Team Canada’s best players of the tournament after he recorded six goals and eight points (6-2--8) in seven games.

• He had accepted a four-year scholarship to Cornell University after completing a successful year playing Junior B with the Kitchener Dutchmen in 2009-10, but a trade from Saginaw to Barrie changed the course of his career and he decided to play in the OHL with Barrie.

• He played the first six years of 'AAA' hockey, up to minor bantam, on defense. He played one game on forward and he hasn't returned to the blue line since -- "One game my coach decided to put me on forward because we were kind of struggling offensively, I think I got four goals, so he decided to keep me up for a couple games, and I started to like it".
