• Aube-Kubel recorded 53 points (22-31—53) in 65 games in 2013-14, helping Val d’Or claim top spot in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s West Division. He added 23 points (4-19—23) and a plus-11 rating in 24 playoff games en route to a berth in the Memorial Cup, where Val-d’Or fell in triple-overtime of the semifinal to the eventual champion Edmonton Oil Kings.

• Aube-Kubel was cheering on the Oil Kings just two years before the team ended his Memorial Cup run. He attended the 2012 tournament to cheer on his cousin, T.J. Foster, who played five seasons with Edmonton. Aube-Kubel competed against his other cousin, Thomas Foster (T.J.’s brother), at the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, compiling a team-leading eight points (4-4—8) in six games for Team Quebec. Thomas suited up for Team Pacific at the tournament and currently plays for the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League.

• The Foreuers selected Aube-Kubel with the seventh overall selection in the 2012 QMJHL draft. In 2012-13, he tallied 27 points (10-17—27) in 64 games as a 16-year-old rookie with the club.

• In 2011-12, Aube-Kubel helped College Antoine-Girouard Gaulois to the best record in the Quebec Midget AAA league, posting 24 points (11-13—24) in 41 games before adding 16 points (7-9—16) in 11 playoff games. His opponents that season included Jonathan Drouin (drafted third overall by Tampa Bay in 2013) and Daniel Audette (No. 75-ranked North American skater).
