• Watson tallied 68 points (33-35—68) in 65 games in 2013-14, playing most of his sophomore season in the Ontario Hockey League on a line with Samuel Bennett (No. 1-ranked North American skater) and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Henri Ikonen (drafted 154th overall in 2013).

• On playing with Bennett: "Anytime you can play with a player like that, it just levels your game and you kind of step up. You want to play the best with him. He helps raise your game."

• Watson was the leading scorer at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial, compiling 10 points (4-6—10) in five games including three assists in Canada’s 4-0 win over the U.S. in the gold-medal game. At the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, he finished third among Team Ontario players with seven points (5-2—7) in five games.

• He is two minutes older than his twin brother, Matthew, who posted seven points (2-5—7) in 30 games on the Frontenacs’ blueline in 2013-14. The Watson brothers grew up playing hockey on a backyard rink constructed each winter by their father, Brian. “We would be out there every night, just going around and having fun. That’s where Matt and I really developed our love for the game.”

• In 2012-13, Watson led all Frontenacs’ rookies in goals (23) and points (43) and finished eighth among all first-year players to earn OHL All-Rookie First-Team honors.

• He totaled 55 goals and 85 points in 41 games with the London Jr. Knights Gold Minor Midget AAA team in 2011-12 before adding eight points (4-4—8) in five games at the 2012 OHL Cup. He then joined the London Nationals in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, tallying nine points (8-1—9) in 12 postseason and Sutherland Cup games.

• Watson is a talented artist who enjoys painting.
