• He is committed to attending Boston College in the fall.
• Fitzgerald was named Eastern Junior Hockey League Rookie of the Year in 2012-13 after tallying 30 points (14-16--30) in 26 games for the Valley Jr. Warriors and was honored with the John Carlton Award, given annually to top student hockey players in the Boston area. As a member of Team McClanahan at the 2012 All-American Prospects Game, he registered three assists and was named Most Valuable Player.
• Fitzgerald won back-to-back Division 1A championships with Malden Catholic High School in 2010-11 and 2011-12.
• His father, Tom, suited up for seven NHL teams (NY Islanders, Florida, Colorado, Nashville, Chicago, Toronto and Boston) during an 18-season career and is now the assistant to the general manager of the Penguins.
