• Button had a breakout season in 2008-09, ranking first among Prince Albert’s defensemen with 32 assists (5-32-37) in 70 games. He started last season playing Midget hockey in Edmonton before joining the Raiders, recording eight assists (0-8-8) in 58 games as a rookie.

• He comes by his athletic ability honestly as his dad, Kevin, has competed in several triathlons and finished an Ironman in 1998. His cousin, Jennifer Button, was a member of the Canadian National Swim Team at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

• After learning to skate before he was three years old, his first hockey team was the Westridge Bears. Growing up in Edmonton, his minor hockey was split between Westridge, Whitemud West and the Canadian Athletic Club.

• Button credits his dad for having the most influence on his career - “he coached me throughout my entire minor hockey years and is always willing to find time to help me get better.”

• Pavel Bure was his childhood hockey idol because of his speed and skill and if he could have dinner with any three people he would choose: his ‘favorite player’ Scott Niedermayer, the ‘successful businessman’ Donald Trump and the ‘determined’ Tiger Woods.
