• He was only 5’9” and 150 lbs. during his Bantam draft year, but a year playing Junior ‘A’ in the British Columbia Hockey League for the Penticton Vees as well as a growth spurt helped Johansen make an impact as a WHL rookie – he now measures 6’2” and 192 lbs.

• For most of the 2009-10 season, Johansen played on a line with 2010 draft prospects Nino Niederreiter (No. 12 ranked) and Bradley Ross (No. 59 ranked). In total, the Portland Winterhawks have five draft-eligible players ranked in the top 90 North American skaters.

• He patterns his game after his favorite player, San Jose Sharks forward Joe Thornton – “I go on NHL.com every once in awhile and try and watch his games and just learn tips from him kind of. He's outstanding to me, his play-making ability and vision just blows me away.”
