His 26 goals led all WHL defensemen, while his 71 points trailed only Giants forward Davis Koch in team scoring. He also represented his country at the 2018 Under-18 World Championship (0-1—1 in 5 GP) and played for Canada Red at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge (1-4—5 in 6 GP), earning a silver medal and tournament All-Star honors.

• His father, Shawn Byram, played as a forward in the WHL from 1984-85 to 1987-88 and was selected by the Islanders in the fourth round (80th overall) of the 1986 NHL Draft. He appeared in four games with New York in 1990-91 and one game with Chicago in 1991-92.

• Models his style of play after Toronto defenseman Morgan Rielly.
