• A power forward with mobility, Gettinger collected 17-22—39 in 60 regular-season games as an alternate captain with the Soo Greyhounds in 2015-16. He added four points in the postseason to help lead Sault Ste. Marie to a first-round upset against the No. 2-ranked Sarnia Sting.

• Drafted 49th overall by the Greyhounds in the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, Gettinger earned First All-Rookie Team honors in 2014-15 after posting 10-15—25 in 54 games.

• Internationally, the Ohio native helped the United States to a second-place finish at the 2014 Under-17 Five Nations tournament. He also wore the red, white and blue at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial where he collected 2-2—4 in four games.

• His older brother, Grant Gettinger, played four seasons at Mercyhurst University, winning the NCAA Atlantic Hockey Conference regular-season title in 2013-14. He played the 2015-16 campaign with the Fayetteville FireAntz in the Southern Professional Hockey League.
