• A young freshman at Northeastern University in 2010-11, he turned 18 in December, Oleksiak had a team-best plus-13 rating and was second among defensemen with 12 points (3-9--12) in 34 games.

• He was the second-youngest player invited to Team USA’s final camp for the 2011 World Junior Championships. His first chance to represent the U.S. was on the Under-18 team at the 2009 Ivan Hlinka tournament. While his hometown is Toronto, Ontario, he is a dual citizen because his father is from Buffalo, New York.

• Oleksiak is a minor hockey product of both the Toronto Young Nationals and Detroit Little Caesars. He also played in the United States Hockey League for the Sioux Falls Stampede and Chicago Steel prior to Northeastern.

• He comes from an athletic background: his father, Richard, lettered in track at Colgate University and is a member of the Nichols School Hall of Fame in football, basketball and track and his older brother, Jake, captained the hockey team while at Nichols School.
