• Horvat scored a league-leading 16 goals (16-7--23) in 21 games during the 2013 Ontario Hockey League playoffs, including the game-winning goal in Game 7 of the OHL championship with 0.1 seconds left in regulation. The goal clinched London’s spot in the Memorial Cup championship for the second consecutive year and Horvat was named the Most Valuable Player of the OHL playoffs.

• In 2012-13, Horvat had 33 goals (33-28--61), including a team-best 17 on the power play, in 67 regular-season games, helping London finish first in the OHL standings. It was the seventh time the Knights have posted more than 100 points in the last 10 seasons.

• Horvat represented Canada at the 2012 Under-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament alongside London teammate and fellow draft prospect Max Domi (No. 19-ranked North American skater). He recorded four points (2-2--4) in five games, helping Canada win the gold. He also won bronze as captain of Team Ontario at the 2012 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge, where he posted seven points (4-3--7) in six games.

• His father, Tim, a former St. Thomas Stars Junior B hockey player, got him started in hockey at the age of four.
