On his style of play: I like to kind of be exciting out there. I like to join the rush, be part of the offense, but at the same time I'm a defenseman in my responsibility.

On the players he patterns his game after: Well, my favorite players are Scott Niedermayer and Mike Green. I think they're really exciting players who join the rush. They're also good in their own zone. So that's an added bonus.

On being offensive: I just always liked being a part of the rush. I think it's exciting to score goals, to be a part of that. I think it's just always come to me.

On getting his start in hockey: I started skating around five years old or something like that. My mom took me on the ice and I played Cookie Monsters – that’s what it was called back then. I don't think I really liked it. I came off bawling my eyes out because I couldn't stand up. I just hated it and told my mom I never wanted to go out again. I think she just put me out there again and I could stand up and ever since then I just loved it.

On growing his passion for the game: I hardly ever played outdoors, if ever. I think I just played minor hockey in my club. We always had successful teams there. Winning just helped me learn to win and how fun it is to win. It got me going.

On winning the Quebec Peewee International Tournament: My first year of peewee, we were still little kids and didn’t really know what was going on. There were a lot of great teams there. We had a good team and we managed to win it all. It was probably the best experience of my life at that age. Now even when I look back at it, it was such a great experience.

On his childhood hockey hero: When I was a little kid my favorite player was Martin Brodeur. As I grew older, he didn't become my favorite player as much. I wasn't really a goalie or anything in street hockey, but as I started to get older, that kind of changed a little bit. It was probably someone from the Vancouver Canucks, like Markus Naslund or somebody like that.

On the possibility of being drafted: Any time you think about it, it's a dream come true to any kid. At the same time you just got to take it one step at a time and take it day to day and just play it as it goes.
