On his ball hockey career: Ball hockey, I was in Bantam, actually, and my coach used to play ball hockey and played in the World Championships. So he got a lot of the guys from Bantam and we made a ball hockey team and we ended up being pretty good that year. It was really fun actually. I liked it. There was one (World Championships), I went to one in Slovakia. We won, which was pretty fun. But it was just a good experience going over there because they take it really serious there in Europe.

On playing in Portland:
It mostly started when Mike came in. We got a great young team and we are looking to go deep in the playoffs. We acquired (Luca) Sbisa at the deadline; so that should be a big part when he comes back from the Olympics.

On patterning his game:
I try to model my game off Mike Green of the Washington Capitals. I like his offensive upside, he's really good with the puck and I just like how he tries to make plays happen.

On his most memorable hockey moment: It's probably my Peewee year, actually. We won provincials and lost only like three games that year. A lot of guys on that team actually play in the Western Hockey League right now.

On his most embarrassing hockey moment: I scored on my own net in Spokane once, and actually wasn't just like along the ice, I put one like in the air, so that was kind of embarrassing.

On the NHL Draft: Just surreal. It's been like a long road here and just to hear your name called would be a dream come true really from when you're a kid, you always dream of playing in the NHL and that's just another stepping stone towards that.

On getting his start in hockey:
I think I was about three. My dad always played hockey and he always wanted to put me in and I guess he and my mother put me in when I was about three and took it from there. Loved it ever since I started on skates.
