RALEIGH, N.C. -- Forward David Jones will replace the injured Micheal Ferland on the Calgary Flames' top line when they play the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena on Sunday (6 p.m. ET; SN, FS-CR).

Ferland left Calgary's 4-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday with an upper-body injury. Flames coach Bob Hartley has used a rotation at right wing on a line with Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan, but he believes Jones is currently the best fit.

"Jones is a great up-and-down player," Hartley said. "He drives hard to the net and gets in there on the forecheck. The player who plays right wing with them, his job is to open up some room and be a net presence.

"I felt that he was skating very well. We need speed around those two guys. We need a guy who can make things happen."

Hartley said Michael Frolik will take Ferland's spot on the power play for Calgary (21-21-3).

"I played that a little bit in Winnipeg last year, so I know what to do," said Frolik, who had three power-play goals with the Winnipeg Jets last season. "I will just try to keep it simple and be there as much as I can and make sure the goalie doesn't see the puck."

Forward Lance Bouma, who missed the past four games with a leg laceration, will return to the lineup for the Flames, who are playing the fourth of a five-game road trip.

The Hurricanes (21-20-8) did not skate Sunday morning. Defenseman Brett Pesce (lower-body) and Riley Nash (illness) are among several players who will be game-time decisions after the pre-game skate, according to coach Bill Peters. He said he would like to have Eric and Jordan Staal play on the same line, but is concerned he will not have enough healthy forwards.
