It took Kimmo Timonen 16 seasons before he won the Stanley Cup, but the since-retired Chicago Blackhawks defenseman spent his day with the Cup on Tuesday.

Timonen, 40, missed most of last season with blood clots and wasn't sure if he'd get to play again. He was traded from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Blackhawks in February and played in 16 regular-season games and 18 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Timonen brought the Cup to his hometown of Kuopio, Finland, and held a parade on Tuesday in front of an estimated crowd of 10,000.

He had 117 goals and 571 points in 1,108 regular-season games with the Nashville Predators, Flyers and Blackhawks.

Blackhawks forward Teuvo Teravainen spent his day with the cup in Helsinki, Finland, on Monday and goalie Antti Raanta will have it Thursday in Finland.
