Columbus Blue Jackets forward Boone Jenner will miss approximately five weeks after undergoing surgery Wednesday to repair a broken hand, the team announced.
Jenner was injured when he was struck in the hand by a puck in practice Sunday.
The Blue Jackets open the regular season Oct. 9 at the Buffalo Sabres. If Jenner is out five weeks, he'll miss Columbus' first 12 games, returning Nov. 7 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Last season Jenner had 16 goals and 29 points in 72 regular-season games and three goals and two assists in six Stanley Cup Playoff games.
