Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux will make his preseason debut Tuesday against the New York Rangers.

Giroux, who centered Brayden Schenn and Jakub Voracek at the morning skate, sustained a lower-body injury on the opening day of training camp and said in the past week he'd like to get in one or two preseason games before the Flyers open the regular season Oct. 8 at the Boston Bruins.

"I feel good," Giroux said. "The last few practices I've been testing it out pretty good and it feels good, so I'll be playing."

The Flyers end the preseason Thursday against the Washington Capitals. Giroux said he'll wait and see how his debut goes before deciding whether he needs to play in that game as well.

"We'll go with tonight and we'll go from there," Giroux said. "I'm doing my best right now to be the best player I can be for the first game of the season."
