Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Kesler, acquired in a trade this offseason, got a standing ovation from the crowd in his first appearance at training camp.

"It was pretty cool to see," said Kesler, formerly of the Vancouver Canucks. "I'm happy I got a warm welcome here. To hear those cheers was special. You don't forget things like that."

Kesler skated on a line with wings Patrick Maroon and Jakob Silfverberg.

"With Patty, he's a big body. With [Silfverberg], he's obviously a very skilled player," Kesler said. "Patty moves very well for a big man. It was fun to play with those guys. It was our first day together, and we have room to grow together, but I thought it was a good day."
