Jarome Iginla will begin his first season with the Colorado Avalanche on a line with Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly, coach Patrick Roy said Thursday.

Iginla scored 30 goals and 61 points for the Boston Bruins last season before signing with the Avalanche as a free agent this summer. A two-time 50-goal scorer and six-time NHL All-Star, Iginla has scored 30 or more goals in 12 consecutive full NHL seasons.

"I've gotten to play with some great centermen," Iginla told the Denver Post on Thursday when Avalanche players reported for physicals. "I've been the recipient of some great passes, one-timers, go to the net stuff, so I feel like I've been very fortunate. Whatever line I'm on here it's going to continue. There's very talented centers down the whole lineup."

Colorado's top line will likely have 2013-14 Calder Trophy winner Nathan MacKinnon centering captain Gabriel Landeskog and veteran Alex Tanguay. Roy said the third line will be a mix of Maxime Talbot, John Mitchell, Jamie McGinn and Daniel Briere.

McGinn (back) and Mitchell (migraines) are players dealing with health issues that could sideline them for part of training camp. Roy also said fourth-line forward Patrick Bordeleau will miss approximately three months after having back surgery.
