Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price skated without equipment Monday at their practice facility in Brossard, Quebec.

Price was declared out for the Eastern Conference Final after he was injured in Game 1, and coach Michel Therrien reiterated Monday that is still the case.

"A great sign," Therrien said of Price skating. "It's part of the rehab."

Veteran backup Peter Budaj played the third period in relief of Price in the series opener and rookie Dustin Tokarski has started the past three games, winning once.

The Canadiens trail the best-of-7 series against the New York Rangers 3-1 with Game 5 at Bell Centre on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, RDS).
