SOCHI -- Finland goaltender Tuukka Rask was scratched from the semifinal game against Sweden on Friday at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Rask, of the Boston Bruins, is suffering from the flu, according to Finnish officials.

Backup Kari Lehtonen will replace Rask. Lehtonen, of the Dallas Stars, played one game in the preliminary round. He allowed one goal on 20 shots in a 6-1 victory against Norway. Antti Niemi of the San Jose Sharks, who has not played in the tournament, will be Lehtonen's backup.

Rask defeated host Russia in the quarterfinals, making 37 saves in a 3-1 victory Wednesday. He practiced Thursday but was not available for the game Friday (7 a.m. ET; NBCSN, TSN).

Rask stopped 71 of 78 shots in his first three appearances, including a 2-1 overtime loss to Canada during the preliminary round.
