Penguins' Scuderi has surgery for broken ankle

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Rob Scuderi had surgery Wednesday to repair a broken ankle sustained blocking a shot during a game Oct. 26 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Scuderi is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

The 34-year-old has one assist and a plus-5 rating in 11 games this season. He had played in 276 consecutive games.
