Recycle the Game at the 2013 NHL Draft!

As part of the League’s ongoing initiative with Restore Hockey, NHL Green asks all fans attending the 2013 NHL Draft to help us recycle the game!

WHAT: Donate your used hockey equipment! Upon collection, non-profit Restore Hockey will refurbish all donated gear, which will be delivered to youth community-based hockey programs in need of support. Accepted items include helmets, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin pads, gloves, skates and sticks.

WHERE: Championship Plaza (adjacent to Prudential Center), between Edison Place and Market Street and on Mulberry Street

WHEN: Sunday, June 30th, from 10:30AM - 2:30PM

"Our ultimate goal is to keep equipment out of basements and out of landfills," said Scott Crowder, Executive Director of Restore Hockey. "All gear collected will be returned back to the ice, right where it belongs."

The initiative was first launched at the 2012 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® Spectator Plaza in Philadelphia, and again at the NHL Powered by Reebok Store in NYC during the 2013 Stanley Cup Final. Nearly 300 items have been collected, refurbished and redistributed from the two events combined.

About Restore Hockey: In 2007, Mike Spengler, a former college hockey player, realized that the game of hockey had taught him many valuable lessons – teamwork, focus, sacrifice, work ethic and respect, among much else. He made the decision it was time to give back, and set out to develop a platform that took used hockey equipment from garages and basements and recycled it back into the game. In 2009, Spengler partnered with Scott Crowder, another former college hockey player, in a project that is now known as “Restore Hockey” – breathing life into old equipment, the charity is fulfilling its mission to promote sports in a manner that embraces access and opportunity.
