Richards skates with Kings' extra players

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Los Angeles Kings center Mike Richards skated Wednesday at the team's practice facility after sitting out the past two games of the Western Conference Final against the Chicago Blackhawks with an upper-body injury that is believed to be a concussion.

Richards skated with all the players who were scratched for Game 3 on Tuesday plus backup goalie Jonathan Bernier.

Game 4 is set for Thursday at Staples Center (9 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, RDS). Chicago leads the best-of-7 series, 2-1.

Richards was injured late in Game 1 at United Center last week when Blackhawks center Dave Bolland hit him behind the goal line. Richards skated in warm-ups prior to Game 2 but was a late scratch because he did not feel well enough to play.

"Obviously it's great to see him out there," longtime teammate Jeff Carter said. "I don't know anything more than that other than he skated today. If we can get him back at some point in this series, whenever it is, it's a huge lift for our team."

Kings coach Darryl Sutter said Richards had a light workout Tuesday but did not specify if that included him getting on the ice.

Richards attended Game 3. He has 10 points in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, one behind forward Jeff Carter and defenseman Slava Voynov for the team lead.

"I talked to him for a minute after the game and he was more interested in the fact that we won more than how he was feeling," Sutter said.
