The team created a bit of intrigue Friday morning at the morning skate when neither top defenseman Kris Letang nor checking forward Craig Adams took the ice for the 35-minute session. But both were on the ice for the pre-game warmups and were on the 20-man active roster.
There was no reason provided for the absences, but it should be noted that each took part in a long -- and fast-paced -- practice on Thursday.
"The lineup, the people on the ice this morning and our injuries are a non-discussion," coach Dan Bylsma said after the morning skate.
With Letang missing, Mark Eaton slid into the rotation on the blue line. Forward Jussi Jokinen took Adams' spot. Both played in the first-round victory against the New York Islanders before being replaced by injured players returning to the lineup.
