WASHINGTON -- The New York Rangers got two of their four injured players back in the lineup for Game 2 against the Washington Capitals on Saturday at Verizon Center.
Forwards Brian Boyle and Derek Dorsett were inserted into the lineup for Chris Kreider and Kris Newbury. However, defenseman Marc Staal (eye) and forward Ryane Clowe (undisclosed) remain out of the lineup.
The Rangers trail the best-of-7 series, 1-0.
Boyle missed the past seven games with a knee injury. He started the game on the fourth line with Arron Asham and Darroll Powe.
Dorsett, who came over to New York in a trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 3, is making his Rangers debut. He has been out of action since March 7, when he broke his clavicle, an injury that cost him 26 games, including his 14 after the trade.
Dorsett started the game skating on the third line with former Blue Jackets' teammate Derick Brassard and Taylor Pyatt.
"It makes them a different team," Capitals forward Matt Hendricks said of the Rangers getting some injured guys back. "They're putting guys in the lineup that they want playing and there are reasons for that. They're talented. They want them in. Whatever happens in their lineup we're not worried about that. We're worried about the way we're going to play."
Staal is missing his 29th straight game since suffering an eye injury on March 5 against the Philadelphia Flyers. Clowe is missing his third game with an undisclosed injury. He skated in a non-contact jersey Friday; it was his first practice since playing April 25 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Washington's lineup is the same as it was in Game 1.
