Tortorella talks Moore no-goal in Game 1 third period

WASHINGTON -- New York Rangers coach John Tortorella agreed with the decision to not award John Moore a goal late in the third period of Game 1 Thursday night against the Washington Capitals even though Tortorella thought it was a goal.

"It's the right call," he said. "I think it's a goal, but it's the right call."

Moore shot the puck from the left side and raised his arms because he thought it was a goal. It would have brought the Rangers within 3-2 with 4:03 to play in the third period.

However, the officials on the ice ruled it a no-goal and their call was subsequently upheld by video review because there was no evidence to prove the puck completely crossed the goal line.

Capitals goalie Braden Holtby said the puck rolled into the palm of his blocker hand, which meant it was impossible to see the puck on video review.

"They said no goal on the ice and you can't see it on the replay," Tortorella continued. "I don't know what happened to the cameras that they always want that are above the net. Maybe they don't have them here in Washington, I don't know."

Tortorella stopped himself from going any further in analyzing the cameras at Verizon Center.

"Well, forget it, I'm not going to go any deeper," he said.
